Offset hooks are used when fishing in snagged areas. They are used in such montages as – Carolinian snap (diverting leash), Texas, articulated, drop shot. Also, the offset hook is sometimes used to cast jig heads. The large hook eye allows the bait to move more freely. which often triggers a predator to attack.
